Women Win the Battle of Sydney Rd (Again)
Date of Event : Mon Feb 13, 2017 12:10PM

In an important game for the women we again put away Sydney Rd rivals Coburg but this time in a tense battle.

Coburg batted first and our girls made the adjustment from 20-20 well bowling tightly and displaying their superior fielding skills to dismiss Coburg for 101.

Pick of the bowlers was young Maddy Jones( 3/7 off 5), Brighde McGrath (2/14 off 5) and Philly Skelton-Hook (2/2 off 2.3).

Batting second on an under-prepared deteriating wicket proved difficult. At drinks we were 4/39 chasing 101 and looking in trouble.

However the middle order stood up again. A very mature innings from Katia Jomini (32no) in partnership with Brighde McGrath (20 from 23) and sensible batting from Eve Sheehan got us over the line.

We are now second the one day ladder and face table leaders Ringwood at Princes Park next Sunday.
