P2 T20 Final Match Report
Date of Event : Fri Feb 10, 2017 10:13AM

Having won all nine T20s games leading into the finals, Brunswick Carlton Striker's inaugural year in the Premier twos was already marked with much success. Alex Rogers was the leading run scorer in the competition with 376 runs and an average of 94.00. Ella Baulch was the second leading comp wicket taker with 11 wickets and an economy of 3.5.

So it was Bill Lawry Reserve that was the picture perfect backdrop for the T20 final and not a single dog turd in sight for the fixture against Melbourne CC. T20 skipper Addy Campion won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Melbourne wasted no time taking advantage of the six over power play to amass 45 runs for no loss of wickets. 15 year old young gun Maddie Jones was the first of the wicket takers, aided by a solid catch at mid off by Brighde McGrath. Brighde soon took a another catch, this time off 15 year old Allanah Dahlsen. #youngwicks

Allanah went on to eventually dismiss Melbourne guest batter Stephanie Townsend but not before she made a damaging 40 off 35 balls. Addy Campion pulled out some loopy off spin to bamboozle the middle order and bring Melbourne's innings to a close at 6/141.

We got off to a nervy chase, losing Alex Rogers and Brighde McGrath in the first few overs. Ella, Legs, Ash and Addy all made good starts but were unable to go on. After 13 overs we were 7/76 chasing 141.

Spectators who thought we were going to get rolled at this point had clearly failed to realise the depth of our batting order. Last year's T20 hero Maddy Davis put on a run a ball 21 at number 8, the original young gun Eve Sheehan smashed 16 off 14 balls, and a 12 run last wicket partnership between Philly and Allanah placed us just 21 runs shy of Melbourne's total.

As a team, we felt more than a little proud of our massive team effort in the run chase. And we were very conscious of the fact we had won 9 out of 9 T20s to get there.

We now move back into the one day comp where we are sitting third on the ladder. This Sunday is the battle for Sydney Road against Coburg at City Oval
